Key Stage 3 Curriculum

As an 11-18 provider, we are ideally placed to offer meaningful pathways between GCSE
and Post-16 which are required for future work and University.

A carefully planned, broad and balanced curriculum is offered which builds on the learning from Key Stage 2, and offers new subjects which do not get covered in depth at primary school.

Key Stage 3 provides a broad and balanced curriculum ensuring that students study a wide variety of subjects for three years. It is based on a Learning Journey in each subject in a knowledge rich curriculum.

Parents are provided with a “Creating Futures” report every term to monitor students' Level of Understanding on their Learning Journey throughout Key Stage 3.

Students take the following subjects (for more information, please see the separate subject pages):

  • English
  • Mathematics
  • Science
  • Modern Foreign Language (French or Spanish)
  • Humanities (History, Geography and Citizenship - includes the statutory requirements of health and sex education, careers education and the cross-curricular themes of citizenship, environmental awareness, work related learning and enterprise education.)
  • Design Technology (Food, Textiles, Graphic Products, Resistant Materials)
  • ICT/Computing
  • Art
  • Music
  • Drama
  • Physical Education

Key Stage 4 Curriculum

As an 11-18 provider, we are ideally placed to offer meaningful pathways between GCSE
and Post-16 which are required for future work and University.

The Key Stage 4 intention is to provide guidance and choices to provide students with the best opportunities for post 16 education or training.

The subjects offered at Key Stage 4 are:

Core Subjects:

  • English Language and Literature
  • Mathematics

EBacc Subjects:

  • Science (combined or triple)
  • Computer Science
  • Modern Foreign Language (French or Spanish)
  • History
  • Geography

Other GCSEs (reviewed each year):

  • Art
  • Business
